It’s been raining the past few days here in Sydney. One afternoon, the sun came out and I immediately jumped into my running gear. I’ve been wanting to run to get those rich Lindt chocolates out of my system!

Alkalize Your Body for Good Health

“…arm yourself with knowledge. If you know why it works, you will be more likely to make it work.”

It’s pretty simple. If you don’t know how something works, you’d probably won’t care too much about it. Here’s a good article about our body and alkalinity.

I never imagined myself actively exercising while on vacation. But here I am, waking up early and looking forward to my first barefoot running session ever. The scenic Surfers Paradise beach is so peaceful and the sands on my feet felt so relaxing.

G’day from Sydney! I’m on vacation and I finally have time to post again. Imagine waking up in the morning feeling all sorts of bad stuff. Muscle pain, joint pain, etc. So painful that you can’t even walk straight. My thought for today is simple, don’t wait ’till it’s too late! Start eating right and release toxins by exercising!

Filipinos, Third in Facebook Monthly Active Users List

Based on Wikipedia’s info, the Philippines has an estimated population of 92 million.  What’s interesting is that InsideFacebook.com posts some metrics about Facebook monthly active users (MAU).

Here are some Facebook numbers for the land of the rising sun:

As of January 1, 2010 – around 8.81 million MAU.

As of February 1, 2010 – around 9.32 million MAU.

As of March 1, 2010 – around 10.68 million MAU.

The Philippines is 3rd in Facebook monthly active users growth (MAU) in terms of actual number, behind US and Indonesia.

Here’s the explanation to the question, “how exactly is MAU calculated?

Here’s the table from a post in InsideFaceBook.com by Eric Eldon.

Your friends, clients and competitors are using Facebook.  Social media is an important ingredient for any business, in any industry.

Do you already have a Facebook marketing strategy or are you still concentrating on traditional media?  Why do you think Pepsi stopped advertising in the Super Bowl this year?  Using Facebook can definitely help your internet marketing business grow.  Drop that formal corporate voice and just be sincere in your conversations.

Need to know how to start your social media campaign?  Get your Facebook FanPage up, invite your friends and clients, listen and talk to them and have fun while you learn more about them.

Stop Selling, Start Listening to Your Clients

There isn’t any secret to a successful internet marketing business.  I’m sorry, that’s the truth.  If you beg to disagree, then share it by clicking the comment box on the left.  :)

Some of us have spent hours finding that well written article on how to work at home and make a lot of money.  We often chase that dream of a home based business and being in control of our time.  You just have to really start getting your hands dirty and get to know your client.  Take note, I wrote client.  That means you treat them as individuals, who have their own reasons why they give you their money.

For individuals, small companies or big corporations, online marketing and e-commerce should not be done with a corporate voice.  As clients, we don’t want to talk to an automated recording.  As persons, we want to know that you are talking to us, not just shoving your advertisements in our face.

Stop selling, start listening to your clients!

The starting point really doesn’t matter that much.  You can’t research forever and try to come up with an award winning business plan or a unified marketing campaign.  Your competition started running the race, don’t play catch-up.

Every business, service or product has certain unique qualities in them.  If you feel that you don’t have a unique selling point, dig deep and you’ll figure it out.  It may not always be the product itself; it can be the way you serve the product.  It can be anything related to your product.  The point is you have to be unique!

The best person who will know what the right strategy should be you, no one else.  In order to do this, you should start listening to what your clients say about you, your product or service, or your company.  If you’re really passionate about your product or service, you have to listen first. You might be focusing too much on “awareness”.  Slow down so you could really hear what your friends, group members, fans or followers are saying.

This is where you get to maximize social media.  Traditional ways are through surveys on your site, or sent through email.  Be creative and start your online conversations using new media like Facebook, Twitter or even MySpace or LinkedIn.  If they are still active in Friendster, then you should still be there!  If your clients want to talk through messenger, go and chat with them.  Join other forums and talk to them there.

Simply jumping in the social media bandwagon will not get you far.  I can promise you that.  Registering your account in these social media sites will not bring in the revenue a few weeks after.  You can’t force people to go to your site, but you can get valuable information when you go to them and they start sharing their ideas.  The moment they want to talk to you, make sure you have the tools for the conversation to take place.

Avoid Disasters by Using Gmail Undo Send Feature

Practical Definition of Cloud Computing

This will be the first of many “practical tech stuff” entries in my blog to help you get updated on tech trends and be able to relate it in real life situations. Let’s dive into it and learn more about “Cloud Computing”.

This will not be about the history of cloud computing or a confusing technical network diagram. You can just open a new tab and get the basics here, here and probably here. You will see different definitions scattered everywhere which can be really confusing. What I am going to share to you is my own practical definition.

Cloud computing is a technology that lets you run an application or service through your web browser.

See, you didn’t get a headache with that short definition. That’s all there is to it! You don’t need to buy and maintain any servers, install different applications and hire a technical team. It’s all in the internet. They just called it “cloud” because the cloud in a network diagram represents the internet.

Cloud computing is important for you to learn because this will affect your whole business or your company. Just like almost everything in I.T., you have to continuously learn these things now, OR ELSE…

There was a survey done around June 2009 by a document management software company (VersionOne) among senior I.T. and finance professionals. Did you know they found out that 41% of senior I.T. professionals admit they “don’t know” what cloud computing is? See, they’re already senior I.T. professionals. Just read on and learn more about cloud computing. Don’t think you’re the last person on earth to learn about cloud computing.

What I’ll give you first is why you should put your attention to this so that you, your business, or your company will benefit from the technology that’s out there in the open, just waiting for you to use it – FOR FREE!

Let me start by giving you a real life scenario. You just finished your marketing strategy presentation slides just in time for tomorrow’s big meeting. Your manager wants to see it and asks you to email it within the day. You put in your final touches and then email it before leaving the office. You’re home already and just about to fall asleep. All of a sudden, you get a call from your boss saying that he’s still waiting for your email. You quickly try to go online but your DSL is down. You go to the nearest internet cafe but for some reason, you can’t access your corporate email there. At this point, you can just imagine different scenarios. Do you hop to one cafe to another? What if the technical team is working on your email server? Nightmare.

This is just one of the millions of scenarios where cloud computing can really save your precious g-maximus! Remember that cloud computing can let you run an application through a browser? What if you can just create, edit and save your presentation slides through a browser, and just keep one version online? You can also share this with the people you want, making it accessible for them anytime. It’s almost like a webpage. You just need to give them a link. They can also see your latest updates to that presentation almost in an instant. They can be sure that anytime they download a copy, they will be downloading the latest version. Your documents are stored and shared online just like your free email account. You can have access to it on a laptop or PC with a browser and an Internet connection. That’s where you can see the power of cloud computing. You can do this for free on either Google Docs or Zoho.
